§ 16-65. Prohibited use and activities.

  • (a)

    Swimming is prohibited on public lands.

    (b)

    Hunting, trapping and commercial fishing is prohibited on public lands.

    (c)

    The possession or use of fireworks on public lands is prohibited, except when possession or use is in accordance with state law or permitted upon issuance of a special use permit by the director.

    (d)

    Wheeled or tracked motor vehicles are prohibited on public lands except in designated parking areas.

    (e)

    Motorized devices are prohibited on public lands. This prohibition shall not apply to motorized devices required by physically impaired individuals.

    (f)

    Smoking is prohibited on public lands for safety, litter, and wildfire control purposes, except where permitted in approved areas designated for such use.

    (g)

    No person shall ignite or attempt to ignite a fire, except for campfires in approved areas and designated for such use.

    (h)

    No person shall dispose of any burning matches, smoking materials, or other flammable materials except in designated receptacles.

    (i)

    The disposal or discharge of any waste, refuse or trash outside of a designated receptacle is prohibited. The disposal of oil, gasoline or other hazardous substance is prohibited on public lands. Where no receptacles are provided, or where the containers provided are full, all waste, refuse or trash shall be carried away by the user and properly disposed of outside of the public land.

    (j)

    Possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages on public lands is strictly prohibited.

    (k)

    No person shall introduce any plant or animal to the public lands, or remove, harm, damage, destroy or harass any animal or plant on public lands, except for any fishing activity authorized herein.

    (l)

    Solicitation is prohibited on public lands, including distributing any handbills or circulars, or posting, placing or erecting any bills, notices, papers, signs or advertising devices or informational matter of any kind.

    (m)

    Public nudity is prohibited.

    (n)

    Pets are prohibited, except in areas specifically designated for leashed pets.

    (o)

    Camping is strictly prohibited at all times unless permitted upon issuance of a special use permit by the director.
