§ 16-64. Permitted use and activities.
(a)
Nature observation. Public lands encompass a wealth of diverse natural habitats that provide ample opportunities to view exceptional wildlife. Non-intrusive nature observation is permitted on public lands open to the public.
(b)
Nature trails. Walking, running, jogging, hiking, bicycling and/or horseback riding is permitted only on designated trails and pathways and during posted hours.
(c)
Picnicking. Picnicking is permitted only in areas specifically designated for such use. The use of picnic facilities including tables, benches, and shelters, if available, is on a "first come, first served" basis.
(d)
Canoeing and kayaking. Canoeing and kayaking are permitted only in trails, channels or areas specifically designated for such use. Canoes and kayaks shall be launched and recovered only from authorized areas.
(e)
Fishing. Catch and release fishing is permitted in areas designated for such activity. Persons fishing shall obey all state and federal laws pertaining to fishing, including licensing requirements, and shall comply with all posted rules and regulations.
(f)
Other uses. Such other uses not specifically prohibited and not inconsistent with the purpose and intent of this article may be permitted upon issuance of a special use permit by the director.
