§ 18-1. Escrow account for private road construction.

  • (a)

    The board of county commissioners is hereby authorized to accept from private citizens sums of money to be held in escrow account provided for by the board of county commissioners for the purpose of holding the funds in escrow until sufficient funds have been secured so that the private citizens may contract with a private contractor to have a road or a street constructed or reconstructed with appropriate ditching on either side when needed.

    (b)

    The board of county commissioners are hereby authorized to pay from the escrow account the sums to the private contractor for the reconstruction or construction as hereinabove provided for.

    (c)

    The board of county commissioners is hereby authorized to have the construction or reconstruction supervised by the county engineering to the extent possible with the work force of county engineering in order to verify as nearly as possible that the road has been constructed or reconstructed to specifications set by the county.
